URL

Defines the connection end point of the OPC UA server. The URL contains the following information:

<protocol prefix>://[username:password@]<computer>[:<port>]

Protocol prefix

The following information is permitted:

opc.tcp for the binary protocol.

opc.http or opc.https for web services

User name

Optional specification of a user name if this is configured in the OPC UA server settings under user authentication.

password

Optional specification of a password if this is configured in the OPC UA server settings under user authentication.

Calculator

Either the computer name or the IP address of the target system or, when accessing the local system, the specification localhost.

Port

Optional specification of the port on which the OPC UA server is listening. The default value depends on the protocol prefix:

4840 (tcp)

80 (http)

443 (https)

Example:

opc.http://192.168.4.2

Connection to the OPC UA server on the computer with the IP 192.168.4.2 via web services and the standard port 80

opc.tcp://localhost:4841

Connection to the OPC UA server on the local system via the binary protocol and port 4841

opc.tcp://HmiUser:Paxam1b3@localhost:4840

Connection to the OPC UA server on the local system via the binary protocol and port 4840 using user name and password
