Visualisation independence

If the aim is to achieve the greatest possible independence, for example because both the PLC and the program parts of the visualisation should be interchangeable elements of an overall concept, the following differences should be mentioned:

VisiWin(.NET) drivers are firmly linked to the visualisation systems of the VisiWin family in terms of communication technology. OPC is a widespread standard that only requires the implementation of an OPC client interface from the applications that exchange data with the PLC. If, for example, an optional data acquisition system is to save PLC values, it can do this directly via an OPC server without using other application parts, such as the visualisation.

In practice, however, very few reasons force the developer to use an OPC server. In particular, it should be noted that the visualisation itself also makes the data obtained via a VisiWin driver available as an OPC server for other applications. Connecting other applications via OPC is therefore not necessarily a knock-out criterion for VisiWin(.NET) drivers.
