Control input ContinuousUpdate

In addition to the Execute control input, some motion commands have a ContinuousUpdate control input. As long as this input is set to TRUE, (while Busy = TRUE), the profile parameters are accepted continuously, i.e. during the execution, the motion profile can be changed. In contrast to the renewed triggering of the Execute input, this update method only affects the present motion. The status outputs and the axis state remain unchanged.

Note!
  • For reducing the runtime and suppressing negative effects during the setpoint generation, the profile parameters are accepted not before 10 call cycles after the last profile parameter change.
  • If input ContinuousUpdate is not active when a FB is being activated (typically on a positive Execute edge), the function cannot be activated later because an Execute edge freezes the input data as per the PLCopen specifications.
  • If input ContinuousUpdate is withdrawn while the function is being executed, a new edge is required at Execute for the ContinuousUpdate property to be reactivated.
