Tip: When converting a client project, a server project must be specified. For client-server projects, it is therefore advisable to convert the server project first.
If you have installed a new version of VisiWin and want to use the new functionality in your project, the project must be converted to this version. The current VisiWin version of the project can be found via the node in the project explorer and is displayed on the General properties page.
When converting, the project is saved in a new directory. Optionally, the project name can also be changed. You therefore receive a new copy of the project. The previous project remains the original and is not changed.
How to convert an existing VisiWin project to a new VisiWin version:
- Open the VisiWin project that you want to convert in the VisiWin development environment.
- Right-click on the project node in the project explorer and select Convert... from the context menu.
The Convert projectdialogue appears.
- If necessary, change the project name, the directory and the version number of the VisiWin runtime to which you want to convert the project. Confirm with OK.
VisiWin creates a new project of the same name with the selected new version. The old project remains untouched on the development computer.
Important: Every conversion automatically involves the risk of a change in the behaviour of your application, so never convert your project shortly before the end of the project and without extensive testing. INOSOFT does not provide a 100 per cent compatibility guarantee between versions!
Restriction: The conversion of complete project groups is not yet supported. However, you can convert the projects of a project group individually and then create a new project group with the converted projects.
