Computer name

Specifies the network name of the computer on which the communication component is installed. The computer name is usually determined via the OPC server selection dialogue (see OPC server name parameter). If no computer name is specified, the system assumes that the communication component is installed locally. The name of the local computer can be specified explicitly. However, it should be noted that in this case the communication component is accessed via DCOM (not via COM).

The computer name can either be the name of a computer directly or a reference to the name of a computer. The variable server is informed of the specification of a reference by a leading @ character in the computer name.
