When creating new recipes at runtime, it is helpful for operators if meaningful default values are already entered in the recipe, which then only need to be checked and accepted. Such default values can be specified in the Default value parameter for each recipe variable. If nothing is specified in the default value, the system uses the default value of the data type of the variable.

The default values can be loaded into the recipe bufferusing an initialisation method of the recipe class object.
