Bit	The alarm is activated via a process variable bit, which is defined via the event variable and bit number parameters. The alarm information (text, alarm class, priority, etc.) is specified directly in the alarm definition.
Bit block	The alarm definition refers to a bit block alarm type. This serves as a template and contains several assignments, each of which assigns a set of alarm information to a bit number. The event variable is also specified in the alarm definition.
Numerical	The alarm definition refers to a numerical alarm type. This serves as a template and contains several assignments, each of which assigns a set of alarm information to a variable value. This allows alarm information to be assigned to different error codes. The event variable is still specified in the alarm definition.
