Channels to be deactivated

Defines which communication channels are deactivated when the corresponding switching state is activated.

The VisiWin properties page displays two lists for variable adapters on the Advanced tab.

In the Switching states list, the developer generates entries that describe the corresponding configuration entries. The Channels to be deactivated list contains the option of deactivating individual communication channels for each switching state.

Deactivating channels suppresses error messages at the start of the project. If, for example, two alternative controllers are available for the project, variable adapters enable switching between the two controllers without changes to the connections to variable names. However, as only one controller is ever connected to the target system, the communication channel for the non-existent controller must be deactivated. Otherwise, the variable server will also attempt to address the non-existent controller when the system is started and may generate a series of error messages.
