Integration into other programmes

The translation manager can be integrated into other programmes by calling it from the command line. The command line parameter -O is used for this (see also chapter Command line call (translation manager)). A project file is transferred, this is loaded and the user interface opens. You can then start exporting or importing immediately.

Integration in Microsoft Visual Studio

Calls to external programmes can be integrated in the Tools menu of Visual Studio. Elements from the Solution Explorer can be transferred to these programmes so that it is possible, for example, to open the selected file with an external programme.

  1. Open the External tools dialogue via the ExtrasWExternal tools... menu.

  2. Click on the Add button.

    A new entry is added to the list and the text entries are cleared.

  3. Enter a name for the new menu item in the Title field, e.g. "Translation manager".

  4. Use the button after the input command to select the translation manager programme ([EASY UI Designer installation directory]\Common\VisiWin7.TextImExport.exe).

  5. Enter the "-o" option in the input arguments (followed by a space) and select the Element path option using the button behind it.

    The input now reads: "-o $(ItemPath)".

  6. Confirm the entries with the OK button.

The new entry "Translation manager" now appears in the Extras menu.

If a VisiWin project file (*.vw7) is displayed in the Solution Explorer, select this file and choose the menu item ExtrasTranslation Manager. The translation manager starts and loads this project file.

The procedure also works for files that do not explicitly belong to a project but are located in the project directory. To display these files in the Solution Explorer, activate the "Solution Explorer" and click on (Show all files) in the toolbar. They are labelled with an indicated file icon .

Integration in »EASY UI Designer«

The translation manager can be integrated into the ribbon of »EASY UI Designer« underExtrasWExternal tools. It is then opened with the active project; this is the project in which a node is selected in the project explorer.

  1. Open the Options dialogue via the ExtrasWExtendedWOptions ribbon. Click the Open button for the "Directory for global settings" option on Development environmentWGeneral.

  2. Open the file "VisiWin7.IDE.vwsettings" with a text editor.

    The file is an XML file. It can be optimally displayed and edited, e.g. with the free text editor "Notepad++". This can be switched to an XML view.

  3. In the <VisiWinNET.Settings> node, search for the <Section name="Environment"> sub-node. If no sub-node <Section name="ExternalPrograms">exists there, add the following node:

    <Section name="ExternalPrograms">

    </section>

  4. Insert the following block within this node:

    <section name="Translation manager">

    <Entry name="Title" type="System.String" value="Translation manager" />

    <Entry name="Icon" type="System.String" value="TranslationManager.png" />

    <Entry name="FileName" type="System.String" value="C:\Program Files (x86)\

    INOSOFT GmbH\VisiWin 7\Common\VisiWin7.TextImExport.exe" />

    <Entry name="Arguments" type="System.String" value="-o

    &quot;$(SelectedVisiWinProjectPath)&quot;" />

    </section>

  5. In this block, you may need to correct the value "value" in the entry <Entry name="FileName" with the installation path of »EASY UI Designer«.

  6. The entry <Entry name="Icon" names the graphic file "TranslationManager.png", which is displayed in the ribbon. This file must be in the same directory as the configuration file. For example, create the named graphic file "TranslationManager.png" from one of the following graphics:

    • ProgrammeSymbolAlt32.png

    • ProgrammeSymbolNew32.png

    Unfortunately, the "Copy" context function of the help does not copy the transparency information of the graphic. Instead, open the help file ([EASY UI Designer installation directory]\Localisation\en-DE\Help\VisiWin7.chm) with the "7-ZIP" compression program. There you can switch to the folder "Tools\Translation Manager\Graphics" and export the desired file.

  7. Save the configuration file and restart »EASY UI Designer«.
