Setting

Description of the

ExcelX

Microsoft Excel workbook with the file extension "*.xlsx". There are no restrictions regarding the length of the text or the number of languages to be exported.

Excel

Microsoft Excel 97-2003 workbook with the file extension *.xls. There is a maximum text length restriction of 255 characters, a restriction of 3 languages (number of columns) and a restriction of max. approx. 65000 texts (number of rows). The number of languages refers to the sum of the target languages and additional languages.

The restriction to 3 languages can be cancelled by placing a "Template.xls" file next to the translation manager program file. This must contain a spreadsheet with the name "TidxTexts". The first three columns must be named "FullName", "Name" and "Description" in line 1. Then as many columns must be named, e.g. with "Lxxxx" (see column naming), as the maximum number of languages to be exported.

The number of these columns is also limited and lies between 10 and 20.

It is better to use the file type "ExcelX".

Text

Unicode text file with the file extension "*.txt". The entries are separated by tabs, each text definition is saved in one line.

XLIFF

XML file with the file extension "*.xlf" in XLIFF format (XML Localisation Interchange File Format) version 1.2. This is an XML file format standardised by OASIS for the exchange of localised texts. It is supported by many CAT tools (Computer Aided Translation). Each XLIFF file only supports one source language and one target language. However, any number of additional languages can be specified.

Clipboard

Copies the texts to the Windows clipboard. The texts are in the same format as the text file type.
