Maximum value settings

The maximum value settings can be used to display the exceeding of a constant or variable-dependent limit value in the application. The transfer of process variables from the OPC server to the variable server contains additional information in addition to the pure process variable value, including a so-called quality flag. Exceeding the maximum value is displayed here at runtime. The VisiWin control elements receive the quality flag at runtime in the change event so that a display of a maximum value overrun can be configured.

Setting

Description of the

Default limit value

A constant as a permitted maximum value (decimal places are separated from pre-decimal places by a dot, e.g.: 1.234). If this parameter is set to the value 0, no limit value monitoring is performed. For variables of type VT_BSTR, this parameter is used to define the maximum length of a character string in order to be recognised as valid.

Dynamic

0
The constant limit value ( Default limit value parameter) is valid.
1
The variable-dependent limit value ( Variable parameter) is valid. Activating this option opens the Select variable dialogue. The selected variable then appears in the Variable parameter. Deactivating the option deletes the setting of the Variable parameter.

Variable

The name of another variable whose current value serves as the upper limit. The Select variable dialogue is opened via the button.
