Data type

Determines the structure and length of the process variables. Either a simple data type or the name of a structure defined in VisiWin can be entered in the Data type parameter.

Setting

Description

VT_I1

Signed integer value, 1 byte (-128 to 127)

VT_I2

Signed integer value, 2 bytes (-32,768 to 32,767)

VT_I4

Signed integer value, 4 bytes (-2,147,483,648 to 2,147,483,647)

VT_UI1

Unsigned integer value, 1 byte (0 to 255)

VT_UI2

Unsigned integer value, 2 bytes (0 to 65,535)

VT_UI4

Unsigned integer value, 4 bytes (0 to 4,294,967,295)

VT_R4

Floating point number, single precision, 4 bytes (≈-3.4*1038 to +3.4*1038)

VT_R8

Floating point number, double precision, 8 bytes (≈-1.7*10308to +1.7*10308)

VT_BOOL

Boolean value (0, 1)

VT_BIT *

Auxiliary data type for accessing individual bits in a structure definition. If required, this can be used as an alternative to VT_BOOL if the communication component (driver) supports this. An extended description of the offset is expected in the order number parameter for VT_BIT: <byte number>,<bit number>.

example: The specification of 0.1 in the ordinal number parameter sets the byte offset of the structure element of data type VT_BIT to byte 0, bit 1.

Note: The specification of 0.0, 1.0, 2.0 etc. is not permitted. Instead, enter 0, 1, 2 etc., for example.

VT_BSTR

Text of the length of the number set in the field size parameter

VT_DATE

Date/Time

<structure name>

Name of a structure definition

Parameters for module:

* Only for force element
