Recipe file
A recipe file saves the recipe data from the recipe buffer to a mass memory.
This documentation refers to a recipe file. Depending on the configuration of the recipe server, this file can be saved in different formats, e.g. as an XML file or as a database. However, a recipe could also exist as a data record in a large database with several tables. In this case, the data is also abstracted under the term recipe file. There is no difference for the user, as they are only confronted with lists of recipe names via the user interface. The developer of the application also does not come into contact with native file operations. The VisiWin API abstracts the recipe system into an object model. There, the object for accessing stored data is called RecipeFile in all cases.
The data in the recipe file essentially consists of the recipe data that the operator has edited in the recipe buffer or that the system has automatically stored there:
- Metadata
- The block contains additional information about the creation and modification of the recipe. The content essentially corresponds to the information block.
- Variables
- List of process variables, contains the name, the value and the data type.
- Notes
- Texts entered individually by the operator.
- Change history
- Saves automatically recognised changes to the recipe values.
