The "AbsoluteLayout" is a container for manually positioning the elements it contains. The elements can be placed anywhere on the container in the Designer and retain this position at runtime.
Example:
You can use the "AbsoluteLayout" for applications with a fixed window size, as is the case with stationary screens.
The "AbsoluteLayout" is also useful for responsive applications if you want to prevent control elements from slipping.
The "AbsoluteLayout" is placed on a higher-level container, e.g. on a page, in the Designer.
Functionalities
The "AbsoluteLayout" supports the following functionality:
-
Absolute positioning of the contained elements
-
Display of the background, the frame, the shadow, etc.
-
Color representation of the background and the frame
You can configure these functionalities via the properties in the "Properties" window when you select the control element in the Designer or in the document outline.
Style
There are no system styles available for the layout container. You can create your own styles for the control element. These styles are available for selection in the "Style" property after creation.
Structure
If an "AbsoluteLayout" is placed on a page, it does not initially contain any other elements. Control elements that are placed on the "AbsoluteLayout" are added to the "AbsoluteLayout" as sub-elements.
The AbsoluteLayout can accommodate any control elements.
Control elements that are placed on an AbsoluteLayout are permanently positioned within the "AbsoluteLayout". If the "AbsoluteLayout" is moved or its size is changed, the position of the elements it contains within the "AbsoluteLayout" does not change.
If a control element is placed on the "AbsoluteLayout", the properties "Left", "Top", "Bottom" and "Right" are available in the "Layout " category in the control element, with which its position on the "AbsoluteLayout" is defined with pixel accuracy.
If the "AbsoluteLayout" (blue background) is moved to the right by 20 px using the Margin property, the position of the contained control elements within the "AbsoluteLayout" does not change.
The Designer supports the manual positioning and alignment of elements on an "AbsoluteLayout" with grid lines, standard spacing and alignment lines. You can activate or deactivate these functions via the button
(docking to alignment lines) at the top right of the Designer. You can adjust these functions in the Options dialogue via the settings in the DesignerWAllgemein node.
