Translation manager
Task
The development of a multilingual visualisation application includes the translation of all texts used in the application. An external translator is often required for this.
VisiWin contains the "Translation Manager" to support this task. This can be used to export localizable texts from the VisiWin project in various standard file formats. These files are transferred to the translators. After the translation process, the texts from these files are imported back into the VisiWin project. This process is explained again in individual steps in the chapter Procedure.
Handling
The translation manager can be called up via the Windows Start menu. When VisiWin is installed, a corresponding entry is added to the VisiWinWVisiWin7 programme group.
The executable file "VisiWin7.TextImExport.exe" is located in the "Common" subfolder in the installation directory. This file can also be copied to the target computer and runs there without any further dependencies. This enables text correction or retranslation on the machine or system.
The programme can either be operated via the user interface or integrated into automated processes via command line calls. This can be used, for example, for integration into other programmes.
All project-specific settings made in the translation manager are saved in the "[project name].tmsettings" file alongside the project file. When a project is selected, these settings are restored and the same settings are available for this project as in the last session.
The programme supports the project file formats of the following VisiWin versions:
Version | Product name | File extension |
|---|---|---|
4.x | VisiWinStudio | *.vws |
5.x | VisiWinNET | *.vwn |
6.x | VisiWinNET 2005 | *.vwn |
7.x | VisiWin 7 | *.vw7 |
