Connection to an analogue process variable
Some control elements can access an analogue variable. Integer values or floating point numbers are processed. Optionally, a unit conversion can be activated.
An analogue process variable contains a number. This can be an integer, have a certain number of decimal places or be a floating point value. Depending on the configuration, an integer value can also be displayed with virtual decimal places. A comma is then inserted at a certain point in the number display.
The following properties are available in the "Variable" category of the Properties window for connecting to an analogue process variable:
DecimalPlaces
Defines the number of decimal places for the numerical representation of the variable value.
UseRawValue
Specifies that the unit switching used in the variable bound to the control is deactivated for the control.
Value
This property simulates the variable value in design mode. This can be used to test the effects of other settings on the display of the control element. Controls that can display the variable value alphanumerically offer several properties in the Value category to influence this display.
The full name of a process variable is entered in this property. This can be of the data type VT_BOOL, VT_I1, VT_I2, VT_I4, VT_UI1, VT_UI2, VT_UI4, VT_R4 or VT_R8.
