Functionality of the controls
The controls in »EASY UI Designer« provide different basic functionalities depending on their type. You can find out which control element contains which functionality in the respective chapter that describes the control element. Here is a general overview of the available functionalities.
Connection to a process variable
Most control elements in »EASY UI Designer« can establish a connection to a process variable. This is defined in the EASY UI Designer system module Variables. The control element displays the value of this variable alphanumerically or visualises the value graphically. With some controls, this value can also be entered or changed by the user.
Some controls can only access a binary variable. Only the value true or false can be processed here. |
Some control elements can access an analog variable. Integer values or floating point numbers are processed. Optionally, a unit conversion can be activated. |
Some controls can only access variables of a specific data type, such as VT_DATE or VT_BSTR. Some support access to any data type. |
Input controls can save the user input until it is confirmed or discarded. |
Input controls can check whether the input is within the permitted value range. If this is not the case, this is indicated by a text or a colour. For output controls, the limits define the displayable range. |
Some output control elements display a status using graphics, text or colour depending on the value of the linked variable. |
Display of the variable value in the control element. |
Start value for the ring or bar in the output control element. |
Display of the value of a variable of type VT_DATE in the control element. |
Display of the value of a variable of type VT_DATE in the control element. |
Settings for formatting the date and time. |
Connection to the language switch
Many controls are linked to the EASY UI Designer language switcher to display a text in different languages.
Display of a text in the control element, partially controlled by a variable value. |
Display of a labelling text in addition to the variable value. |
Display of a text at the top of a control element as a heading. |
Display of additional text below the heading in a control element. |
Display of a text in the control element in the event of an error. |
Display of a text as a help or hint for the correct input. |
Display of a text in a list entry. |
Display of a text in a list entry in addition to the main text. |
Display of a text as a placeholder, note or example for input. |
Representation of a unit of measurement in addition to the variable value. |
Layout, presentation, graphics, colours
The graphical representation of a control element can be influenced via various properties. This mainly concerns elements such as symbols, colours, frames or shadows.
Size, spacing and position of control elements. |
Graphical representation of the control element: background, frame, shadow, transparency and visibility. |
Display of one or more graphics in a control element. |
Standard colours and status-dependent colours for the background, text and other components of a control element. |
Different display of a control element depending on its status. |
Different display of control elements depending on the selected colour scheme. |
Elements
Representation of a numerical scale. |
Display of values on the numerical scale. |
Display of the variable value and the unit in the control element. |
Expandable list with list entries, only one of which can be activated. |
Further functionalities
Connection of the control element to the VisiWin user administration, e.g. for blocking the operation of a control element. |
Display of certain content through user interaction with the control element. |
For alarm controls such as AlarmList, filters can be activated that only allow certain alarms to be displayed in the control. |
